Campus Renewal Construction Updates: October 6
Campus renewal work continues outside and inside! On the future Campus Commons, workers have poured the concrete footers for a low, curving stone wall that will delineate the area. Most of the materials for the wall are on site so you'll see it taking shape soon.
Work is also continuing in and around the building, with more sides of the building clad in hardiplank siding and noticeable work on the porch, including the installation of the deck planks and roof beams. Forrester Construction and subcontractors are working closely with Dominion Energy to set up electricity for the building soon, which will allow the building's HVAC to come online so that more finishings can be installed inside.
Forrester has also alerted us that some siding work on the building will need to be redone. During a quality control check, reviewers discovered that the hardiplank on the front of the building had not been installed per required guidelines. To ensure we get the building we want for our current and future students, the subcontractor will remove this siding and reinstall it per manufacturer's specifications at their own expense. We intend to reuse as much of the siding as possible, but may have to reorder some quantity. This work will happen over the next several weeks.
