The Annual Election of Trustees, BPA Chair, and BPA Vice Chair

Thursday, February 7, 2019

Dear Members of the Burgundy Community,

The Burgundy Parents Association (BPA) Steering Committee and the Board of Trustees invite you to participate in the annual election of Trustees, BPA Chair, and BPA Vice Chair. You are eligible to vote if you are a current parent or guardian of a student (each parent/guardian has a vote), a life member as defined in the Burgundy Bylaws, a current Trustee, or an employee of the School.

There are five candidates on the ballot to join the Board of Trustees for a three-year term. One candidate is a current Trustee who seeks to return for a second term, and four are proposed new Trustees. The current Board solicited nominations from the school-wide community in December 2018, and approved the proposed slate of candidates at its most recent meeting on January 26, 2019. The candidates are not in competition with each other; rather, a nominee will be elected if the number of votes cast "for" a nominee exceeds the number of votes cast "against" that nominee.

There is one candidate for BPA Chair and one candidate for BPA Vice Chair on the ballot, both of whom would serve for one year. As with the Trustee nominees, the BPA Chair and Vice Chair nominees will be elected if the number of votes cast "for" a nominee exceeds the number of votes cast "against" that nominee.

Burgundy’s Bylaws define the purpose of the Board of Trustees as follows:

The Board shall manage the affairs of the School in a manner consistent with the Bylaws of the School, the Articles of Incorporation and other applicable state and local laws and regulations. The Board's purpose is to ensure the long-term stability and financial viability of the School and its mission.
