Annual, Capital & Planned Gifts
Parents, family members, alumni and friends make voluntary, tax-deductible contributions to support enrichment programs for students and professional development for faculty through Burgundy’s operating budget. Families generously contribute in proportion to their ability.
Strong parent participation is an essential complement to tuition revenues in support of operating expenses and is valuable as an indicator of community commitment and support when applying for funds from outside sources.
Current parents are solicited for annual giving pledges/contributions during the first two months of school. Pledge payments may be paid at any time, but should be received by June 15, 2008 in order to be credited for the 2007- 2008 fiscal year.
The 2007-2008 school year introduces the Burgundy Family of Annual Funds. These funds seek unrestricted dollars to support curricular and co-curricular programs. Gifts to the Burgundy Family of Annual Funds go directly to the school’s operating budget: supplies, field trips and countless educational opportunities.
In 2006-2007, Annual Giving represented $160,000 in program enhancements.
Donors choose among the seven funds, detailed below, to make gifts impact a specific aspect of Burgundy life. Each gift helps ensure that Burgundy students continue to benefit from the finest educational experiences. Because all contributions go directly to support learning, your gift will touch the lives of Burgundy students each and every day.
- Annual Fund for Excellence - Enabling the school's administration to address spontaneous educational needs in and out of the classroom.
- Environmental Science and Sustainability - Ensuring Burgundy’s continuing and developing leadership in environmental science education and sustainability for the future.
- Experiential Education - Inspiring personal creativity and individual expression, as well as providing distinctive educational experiences designed to broaden the breadth and depth of student learning.
- Faculty Enrichment - Enabling faculty members to grow and share professionally throughout their careers.
- Fine and Performing Arts - Offering distinctive opportunities for students to explore their passion, talents and creativity.
- Library and Technology - The Library is an essential component of every Burgundy student’s experience. Gift support sustains a superior learning environment and supports proficiency in a technologically advanced world by providing current hardware and software, as well as the finest technology curriculum, so that Burgundy students are at the leading edge of the technology revolution.
- Scholarship/Financial Aid - Providing the resources to enroll a student population that is highly diverse, talented, and motivated to succeed in Burgundy’s unique community.
The Burgundy Family of Annual Funds supports the school's operating budget, which includes the programs above. In the event of surplus funding in one or more areas, the Board of Trustees reserves the right to reallocate contributions as needed.
Capital Giving
Capital gifts to Burgundy serve a specific purpose beyond the time of the initial gift. Endowed funds support the academic curriculum, students, and faculty.
The school has three endowed funds: the Scholarship Endowment Fund, to support financial aid for qualified students, the Faculty Excellence Fund, to support continuing education and professional growth of faculty, and a newly created General Endowment Fund. Gifts may be directed to the endowment funds at any time during the year.
For 2007 – 2008 a special fund of $50,000 has been set aside to match all new or increased giving in support of any of the three endowment funds dollar-for-dollar! Please contact the Advancement Office for more information and details.
