Burgundy Center for Wildlife Studies

The Burgundy Center for Wildlife Studies, known as Cooper’s Cove or 'The Cove,' is a wildlife sanctuary in an open Appalachian valley near Capon Bridge, West Virginia.

During the school year the facility is used primarily by the school, and classes spend three days fall and spring at the Cove. Children and teens from all over the country attend the BCWS residential nature camp.

Founded in 1963, the purpose of BCWS is to nurture in children and teens a respect and sensitivity to the natural world through greater knowledge of nature and self. Campers develop this through direct interactions with nature and the staff, through learning scientific information, and through gaining experiences as part of a community.

The camp is comprised of three senior programs (ages 11-15), one junior program (ages 8 -10) and one adult weekend (ages 21+).
