Physical education includes instruction for junior kindergarten through 8th grade in games, sportsmanship, body mechanics, exercise and social recreation.

Our program emphasizes age-appropriate skills, well-rounded physical development, lifetime fitness, coordination, posture, teamwork and cooperation.

Physical fitness is stressed at all levels. Classes for young children focus on physical coordination and learning to play together. Specialized skills are taught in all areas as games and sports become more challenging. Early childhood and elementary students take swimming lessons during the fall and spring in Burgundy's heated outdoor pool.

Fifth- through eighth-graders may compete in interscholastic coed soccer, softball and cross country, boys' lacrosse, girls' volleyball, and boys' and girls' basketball. Burgundy students compete in a league comprised of area independent schools.
