
- Admission Testing
The admission process begins in the fall prior to the year in which a student enrolls.
The first step is to contact the Admission Office by completing our online inquiry form or by calling 703.329.6968. An admission packet will be sent to you. The second step is to attend an Open House. For Open House dates and tour information, click here.
Applications for each school year are accepted between October of the year prior to enrollment and February 1. Supporting materials, including teacher recommendations, school transcripts, and test scores must be submitted no later than February 15. Forms for supporting materials can be printed from the corresponding sections below or through the links on our online application. You may complete and submit an online application by clicking on that link.
Applications submitted after February 1 will be considered after April 1 for any grades in which space might still be available. Deadlines and additional details about the application process are further described through the links in the table below or by using the tabs above.

Parent Visit and Student Visit
Parents should call Lori Adams,
Director of Admission at at 703.329.6968, extension 464, to arrange to attend
an Open House or to schedule an individual campus tour.
Student visits typically take place
in January and February and will be scheduled after an application has been
received. Visit hours and days vary depending on the age of the applicant:
- Junior Kindergarten applicants visit with a group of JK applicants for one hour on one of the two scheduled Saturday morning test dates.
- Kindergarten applicants visit with a group of K applicants for 90 minutes on one of the two scheduled Saturday morning test dates.
- Applicants for 1st and 2nd Grade visit for two hours on one of the two scheduled Saturday morning test dates.
- Applicants in Grades 3 through 5 visit for half of a school day in January or early February. At the beginning of the visit, the Director of Admission will administer a writing and math assessment.
- Applicants for Grades 6 through 8 visit for a full school day in January or early February.

Admission Testing
Testing is required for all applicants. Students applying for Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten must complete and submit WPPSI-III or IV (Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence-Third or Fourth Edition) scores. Applicants for Grades 1 through 8 are required to take and submit WISC-IV (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fourth Edition) scores. Parents should contact an independent licensed psychologist to schedule testing. A list of local testers is included in our admission packet and also may be accessed in the "Admission Testing" link below. At your request, testers will forward your child’s results to the Admission Office. Results are due by February 15th.

Teacher Recommendation(s)
Teacher recommendations are required for every applicant. Recommendation forms should be given to your child’s teacher(s) to complete and send directly to Burgundy's Admission Office. Applicants for Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5 are required to submit one recommendation form from their current teachers. Applicants for Grades 6 through 8 must submit a Math and an English recommendation from their current teachers. The recommendation forms can be downloaded and printed from the links below. Please call the Admission Office for further instruction if your child has not attended a school prior to applying to Burgundy.

Transcripts/grade records/progress reports are required for all applicants (including Junior Kindergarten applicants if available). Please sign and submit the form below to your child's school, so records can be forwarded to Burgundy's Admission Office.

Admission Policies
Admission policies have been developed in accordance with the school's mission and a desire for a diverse community of learners. The Admission Committee, including the Director of Admission, faculty, and administrators, is charged with evaluating each piece of an applicant’s file to determine each applicant’s fit within the school. Decisions are sent to families in early March.
