Elementary School Teacher
Requirements
• Genuine love of learning and desire to work with children as a facilitator of learning
• Familiarity with progressive, student-centered teaching and willingness to teach and adapt an integrated curriculum
• A degree with a major in Elementary Education or a related field
• Collaborative spirit and interest in team-teaching
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to organize and manage a positive classroom
• Understanding of diverse students, learning styles, and behavioral issues
• Commitment to differentiated instruction
• Interest in outdoor, hands-on and environmental education
Duties
• Teach all subjects according to the stated curriculum, demonstrate thorough planning
• Maintain an emphasis on preparing students for the joys and challenge of learning
• Participate in curriculum development, committee, and task force work
• Perform necessary administrative tasks and attend required meetings and events
• Engage in reflective practice and a regular program of professional growth activity
Hours
• Arrive 8:00 a.m., depart 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except Wednesday, when faculty meetings begin at 3:30 p.m. and end at 5:00 p.m.
• The School is closed for most national holidays, as well as Winter and Spring Break.
Salary and Benefits
• Salaries are based on a competitive independent school scale with increases for advanced degrees and experience; starting teacher salary: $40,029; $2000 step increase for master’s degree.
• Health, dental, life insurance, and long-term disability, as well as a retirement plan, are offered in a cafeteria plan to all full-time employees.
• A tuition benefit (1/4 discount) is offered for one qualified child attending Burgundy.

Substitute Teacher
Follow lesson plans left by regular teachers, both classroom and specialists such as Spanish, French, music, drama, art, and physical education.
